Insight says ‘Friday sales were higher than any other Friday this year and the sales were higher than the Euros final with England v Italy on Sunday 11.07.21.’ It says ‘every day outside of Monday and Friday saw sales lower than the previous week, Saturday sales were significantly cannibalised by Friday sales – with significant evening sales declines…’ • See premium. He tells the Daily Mail that the chain has been preparing ‘the entire year’ for the tournament and is hoping that the World Cup will break records. Domino’s is reported to have hired an additional 10,000 staff in the last two months. Diaz says ‘we knew that it was going to be big, but it has definitely been much better than expected…’ XP Factory (Boom Battle Bars & Escape Hunt) has updated on openings announcing ‘the opening of its flagship site on London’s Oxford Street’. In addition to the Oxford St site, which opened on 25 November, XPF says ‘two further Boom owner operated sites, two Boom franchise sites, and one Escape Hunt owner operated site have opened since 28 September 2022….’ Elliott Advisors is reported ‘poised to bankroll £70m rescue of Superdry’ says the Daily Telegraph. The Evening Standard reports that ‘chicken restaurant chain Nando’s has slashed its losses by more than half amid a “bounce-back” in customer demand over the past year.’ It says the return to profit was slowed down by wage inflation, higher goods costs and disruption across the firm’s supply chain… • See premium. Adjusted EBITDA of £0.3m reflected long periods of closure during the year. The administration of the old Côte business was successfully closed, with all key assets secured. Nightcap co-founders Sarah Willingham and Michael Toxvaerd have called on the union RMT to switch the rail strike dates in exchange for free drinks. The co-founders said ‘December should be sacrosanct…We are calling on the RMT union to move the strikes to the third week of January’. Luckin Coffee reported Q3 revenue up 66% YoY to $547.5m, opening 651 net new stores during the period, reaching 7,846 locations across China… Tim Hortons plans to double its drive-thru estate within one year of opening in the UK, following the opening of its 50th drive-thru in Watford on 28 November.
