PIER has announced H1 numbers for the 6 months ended 25 June 2023 saying that ‘total revenues for the Group were £16.2 million (2022: £17.3 million), following a challenging second quarter as previously announced.’ The company says ‘the majority of this sales decline was from the Bars division which faced tough comparable numbers, following exceptionally strong trading from a post-pandemic surge in demand in the first half of 2022.’ PIER says ‘ongoing inflationary pressures, in particular to food, beverage and staff costs have had a significant impact on the Group’s operating margins in the first half of 2023, resulting in lower earnings than in the previous year.’ The company reports a loss before tax of £1.0m against a PBT in the same period last year of £0.7m…. • See premium.
