JDW conf call, DGE, Parkdean, Bill’s, Saga, tax, labour & other:A DAY IN THE LIFE: I can’t help thinking that those electric bikes, which must weigh about 100kg and one suffers to bomb around on the pavements at about 25mph, are a bit of a danger to health both because of their tendency to self-combust and the way that they are ridden. I mean I know that the gig-workers and the like that often use them are on a tight schedule. But surely that’s a problem that needs to be sorted out by the riders themselves, their employers, the restaurants supplying them with nosh and their customers with no need to involve a bunch of tired commuters who must be getting sick to death of being cut up and pushed into the road by said bikes on their way to the train station of an evening? Maybe the riders should wear helmets, get driving licences, have insurance and stick to the roads where, every now and again, they might try to obey the rules.
